Review by Van-L list member Cuttsy:
This is a fine double CD-R boot, from very good audience recordings, presumably a digital source tape made at Cardiff at the end of last year. Sound is clear and well balanced and has the edge over Sing It Like You're Proud. There's enough audience participation to give a nice feel without getting in the way of the music. Performance is very good. Van is in good voice and good spirits (no alcoholic pun intended although it may well be appropriate!).

The evening starts with plenty of appearances from The Healing Game then Van takes requests which creates great excitement - And - for once, he actually seems to listen to them! VTM's performance gets looser as the evening goes on. The band play really well, you can almost feel the rapport between them.

There's a lovely relaxed "Into the Mystic" although Van say's he's hoping to come up with a better horn part for it! Fine performances of WMIAE, HITYL, "Moondance", "Vanlose" and an excellent "Cyprus" (X2) follow. "Summertime" involves some journalist bashing and amazingly turns into the rarely performed "Just A Closer Walk With Thee". "That doesn't mean I've gone religious in any way shape or form - As Dave Allen says may your own god go with you"! The appearance of "Russian Roulette" and "Raglan Road" for me make this a great boot. It's a lovely collection, the more I hear it the more I enjoy it. I really wish I'd been there. Buyers will not be disappointed.
